The ticketing official website for State Florentine Museums
The Museo adjoining the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, currently a modern center specializing in restoration, directly derives from the artistic workmanship of semi-precious stones which was officially founded in 1588 by Ferdinando I de’ Medici.
The most prestigious creations, frequently gifts by the Florentine Grand Dukes, are preserved in royal palaces and museums throughout Europe, while in production laboratories have remained unfinished works, or a result of changes and subsequent dismantling, and what has survived to the 19th century dispersions, which came to an end in 1882 with the transformation of the collection into a museum.
The Museum was renovated in 1995 on a project of Adolfo Natalini.
